Because it is not already banned mercury in cosmetic products? Well, this is a long story, but the short version that the FDA has banned very, very, very few chemicals in cosmetics. Mercury is not one of them. They are, in fact, in Europe, Korea and Japan banned chemicals still common in many cosmetics in the United States.
I do not see mercury on my mascara ingredient label. This means that mercury is free? The actual name of the components containing mercury called thimerosal. It is an organic compound containing mercury used as a preservative agent and anti-fungal from 1920. Thimerosal has been all over the world, but is not prohibited in the United States (with the exception of Minnesota).
What should I do now? Lord, the bottom line is, in my opinion, not just for mercury, but rather a lack of regulation in general in the United States for the safety of cosmetic ingredients. So what's a girl to do? Most women do not understand a chemical in their spare time to stay current with international standards cosmetic ingredient, whether products are safe. Instead, I propose that for companies that use the security and transparency regarding the ingredients have focused research.

The Ugly Truth About Commercial Cosmetics
Chemicals In Cosmetics think most of us take for granted that the popular soaps, cosmetics, lotions and hair care products that we buy in our local salons, drug stores and are safe. Why should we buy consumers able to use the products and on our skin, lips, eyes and hair every day if they harmful? This was not even a question I ever asked of me, because I was so convinced of my products and companies well known that their manufacture. I started investigating, when I decided to cosmetics, to start my own cosmetic company. When I began studying the ingredients in my makeup and shower products like soap and shampoo, I was shocked to discover that almost all contain one or two, but more difficult to pronounce, synthetic chemicals dangerous.
About 90% of all ingredients of cosmetic products on the market are of synthetic origin and directly lead to serious health risks such as cancer, infertility, kidney and liver and severe skin reactions related issues. Environmental Working Group report called "Skin Deep", found that nearly 90 percent of more than 10,000 ingredients used in products for personal care have not been evaluated by government regulators. At the same time, from 20,000 different off-the-shelf cosmetic products that are for sales in the United States for more than 80% of products containing one or more ingredients that have caused documented adverse reactions in humans and animals past.
The FDA has only banned or restricted just nine ingredients in products of personal hygiene in all its history of 67 years (FDA 2000). On September 6, 1997 Boston Globe reported that "The General Accounting Office, the investigative arm of Congress, the body, more than 125 cosmetic ingredients suspected carcinogen recognized and others that can cause birth defects."! I have used Rimmel Volume Flash Mascara - Extra Black - And that was reallly good, i liked the effect it gave to my eyelashes, but it wasnt easy to remove
I now have Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara - And i dont like this at all, it just seperates my eyelashes and does nothing
